Maintenance Electrician II

Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Maintenance Electrician II. This is a skilled level position working to install, maintain and repair electrical equipment. This position will work closely with the Plant Engineer and will coordinate with outside contractors on electrical projects. The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, able to follow instructions and directions, according to established operating procedures, performs the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance and Protection:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This is a skilled labor position working to install, repair and maintain electrical equipment in and around the plant. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all electrical equipment and motors.
  • Design and install new electrical systems and system modifications. .
  • Check and calibrate process control instrumentation throughout the plant.
  • Annual inspection and cleaning of motor control centers and electrical switchgear.
  • Adjust electrical parts of equipment and control systems where needed.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors on electrical projects.
  • Program and install Allen Bradley and other programmable logic controllers.
  • Follow NFPA 70E electrical safety in the workplace standards.
    • Comprehend and understand electrical schematics and blueprints.
    • Always uses safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
    • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
    • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
    • Responsible for operating in conformance with the ISO certification held by the Fruita facility.
    • Regular attendance is required.
    • Train and assist entry level electricians to follow electrical safe work practices.
    • Assist entry level electricians with electrical theory and troubleshooting.
    • Work Independently

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience and Skills

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or completion of an Industrial Electrician Program from a qualified technical school and four years in role with demonstrated skill preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Electrical license or equivalent work experience.

Forklift operator certificate.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
