Recreation Fee Technician

Two positions will be filled in total.
One (1) for Colorado National Monument in CO and one (1) at Yellowstone National Park in WY.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive technical problems associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations.

Provide assistance to the fee supervisor and/or higher-level fee manager in the development of new fee systems and procedures for implementation above the local level.
Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.
S.
Treasury regulations governing the handling of governement funds.
Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations.
Conduct analysis to validate fee transactions and determine the adequacy of existing fee systems and technologies; make recommendations for operational adjustments.
Provide informal and formal training to employees, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc.
regarding highly technical automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc.
Physical Demands:
This position requires standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, lifting of moderately heavy items.
Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money.
If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and other emergency response duties.
Working Environment:
This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station.
Work may frequently be performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight.
Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations.
High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods.
Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.
Colorado National Monument is one of the grand landscapes of the American West, centrally located between Fruita and Grand Junction in the heart of Western Colorado.
As an employee of the National Park Service, you will help protect the natural and cultural resources of this place.
The Grand Valley (Fruita, Grand Junction, and Palisade) has a population of approximately 150,000 people and includes multiple options for all services.
Schools, hospitals, and shopping are all readily available.
Abundant access to public lands provides opportunities for hiking, mountain and road biking, river rafting, snow sports, and other recreational activities.

This position is located at the South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, elevation 6900 feet, 97 miles south of park headquarters.
Temperatures vary from an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to sub-zero in the winter.
Temperatures of -20 degrees Fahrenheit are not uncommon in winter.
The South Entrance is a Yellowstone interior duty location.
The road to this location is not plowed after the first weekend in November, and the location is only reachable by snowmobile or snow coach November through April.
A pool of snowmobiles for personal use is available on a reservation system.
The US Mail is delivered approximately twice a week in the winter.
A post office, a general store, and a service station are available at Grant Village in the summer, generally from mid-May to mid-September.
Medical clinics are available during the summer at Old Faithful, Lake Village, and Mammoth Hot Springs.
Many community services are available at Jackson, Wyoming, 64 miles driving distance to the south.
Schools are available outside the park.
Many community services are available at Cody, Wyoming, 80 miles driving distance to the east.
While there are challenges with life in Yellowstone's interior during the winter, there are also exceptional winter recreational opportunities and few places on earth can rival the superlative resource conditions and ecological integrity experienced in Yellowstone's interior.

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).
Examples of specialized experience include; performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; performing recurring or standardized accounting transactions such as remittances and bank deposits in automated financial systems; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process.
You must include hours per week worked.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.
For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of specialized experience that you will be granted.
An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience.
For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either full-time (or 40 hours a week) or part-time with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience.
For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected.
